What is FCVS?

FCVS (Federation Credentials Verification Service) offered by the Federation of State Medical Boards, is a convenient way for physicians and physician assistants to store important professional information that can be used to verify a provider's education and exams to state medical boards. Certain states require FCVS to be purchased along with the application. The base fee for FCVS is $375, but can vary in cost based on verification needs. An initial FCVS profile can take about 45 days to complete and be submitted to the board. Below are the following state that require FCVS to be requested along with the state application

  • Maine (Medical)

  • Massachusetts

  • Nevada (Osteopathic)

  • New Hampshire

  • North Carolina

  • Ohio

  • Utah (Medical)

  • Virgin Islands

  • Wyoming

The following states don't require FCVS, but do accept FCVS and when applying to multiple states, can significantly cut down on the application processing time.
